2010 AQAN Seminars and Roundtable Meeting in Jakarta
The 3rd ASEAN Quality Assurance Network (AQAN) Roundtable Meeting, held in Jakarta from 29th to 30th July 2010 was co-organized by the National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (NAAHE/BAN-PT) and the Directorate General of Higher Education (DGHE), Ministry of National Education (MoNE) of the Republic of Indonesia. The annual gathering themed - â€˜The Interfacing between IQA and EQA in Higher Educationâ€™- was attended by the representatives of higher education institutions and professional bodies, higher education auditors, officials from quality assurance agencies and higher education ministries of the AQAN member countries.
The three day program has been officiated by H.E. Prof. Dr. Fasli Jalal, the Vice Minister of the Ministry of National Education, Republic of Indonesia. In the welcoming speech by the President of AQAN, Dr. Syed Ahmad Hussein expressed his gratitude to the presence of His Excellency which underscores the seriousness of the Ministry of National Education, Republic of Indonesia in its unwavering support to regional cooperation and networking in quality assurance of higher education.
The opening ceremony was also attended by several respected guests including H.E. Prof. Dr. Ir. Djoko Santoso, the Director General of Higher Education, Ministry of National Education, Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Dr. Joao Freitas, the Minister of Education, Timur Leste and Mr. Donald Tambunan, who represented the Secretary General of ASEAN and gave the first keynote address.
The seminar and workshop addressed the issues on interfacing internal and external quality assurance for higher education institutions and professional bodies. At the end of the seminar, several recommendations have been suggested to the Roundtable Meeting.
The seminar and workshop was continued with a policy dialogue session with ASEAN QA Partners, AQAN 2010 Roundtable Meeting and AQAN Executive Committee Meeting. During the Roundtable meeting, the winning design of AQAN 2009 Logo Competition has been duly adopted and will form a formal representation for the network.
Apart from full participation from all the participants, the gathering had significantly contributed to a meaningful, fruitful and productive meeting and intervention.
